Do you miss parkrunÂź in France?
The wait is over: lepar<run begins in September 2024!
Weâre basically the same, though not quite, but possibly even better (we have croissants afterwards!)
We are not a subset or associated to parkrun in any way.
What we are:
- A group of 30+ friends who keep the spirit of parkrun going in Paris! (hopefully more and more runners soon!)
- A strange bilingual bunch where youâll never quite be sure whoâs from what country
- A timed run
What we are not:
- A formal association or entity of any sorts
- An official race
- To repeat, a subset of parkrun or associated with them in any way
What is leparđ„run?
Every Saturday morning, at 9am, we do a free, timed 5km run!
â
All paces are welcome, from the speedy lot who zip around in 17 minutes or less to the less fast runners who may take 45 minutesâ or more
âEvery Saturday morning, around 9.50am, we have a dĂ©gustation of some of the finest croissants and pains aux chocolat you can find in Paris (avec cafĂ© sâil vous plait).
âTheyâre so good we even stick around to eat them when it rains. Even in February. Some say weâre mad. Some say we agree.
Location
How will I know how to find you?
You can find us here. Some of us are French so donât expect us to start at 9h00 on the dot. But we will always have started by 9h10 at the latest.
Most people meet up around 8h55 at the finish line then walk over. If no one is at the start line at 9h00, itâs because theyâre still blabbering away to each other at the finish line: donât worry, weâre coming!
We donât have marshals BUT the course is essentially 2 laps of a lake: you can go wrong if you try hard enough, but 99% of runners donât. We give a briefing + thereâs always enough of us regulars to follow on the first lap.
A few more points
Do I get a time, someone to keep my bag, and plasters if I trip over?
- Good news, youâll get a time!
- âBadâ news: we have nothing to do with official parkrun, so it wonât go on their website. DĂ©solĂ©.
- Better news: we still keep a tab of everyoneâs times and put them on our website
- Great news: you still get to show off on Strava
- Excellent news: the course is marked out on Strava so you can even see how you rank against everyone else!
- Good news, we have someone who keeps everyoneâs bags: the bag drop is at the finish line
Important point: anyone who takes part does so at their own risk (so no, no plasters). We each make an independent decision that we are fit to take part: you should too. If you are uncertain, you can go through the French Federationâs PPS (10 minute) video. And if youâre still unsure, please come for the croissants and raise your heart rate with the double espresso!
Are you here to stay?
- Hopefully not! As soon as parkrunÂź are able to bring parkrunÂź events back to France, then we look forward to joining up with the mothership again ... please see this statement from parkrunÂź.
